  • Richard Bartens Dewey III was born in Rochester, Minnesota, during his father’s tenure as resident and fellow at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Growing up in Dallas, Texas, he began to develop an interest in Parkinson’s Disease while working with his father’s patients researching the correlation of symptom onset and disease progression.
    After undergraduate training in California, Dr. Dewey completed medical school, residency, and fellowship training at UT Southwestern in 2022, specializing in Movement Disorders.
    He began practicing in Boca Raton, Florida, as an investigator in over 50 different research trials exploring pharmaceutical treatments for a wide array of movement disorders. He joined the Mayo Clinic in Florida in 2026.
    Dr. Dewey's primary research and clinical interests include neuroprotection and management of early Parkinson’s Disease, mitigation of non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease, and novel therapeutic approaches to Essential Tremor. He is experienced in deep brain stimulation programming as well as botulinum toxin injections for many neurologic conditions. Dr. Dewey has authored both scientific abstracts and peer-reviewed publications in journals such as Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology, Parkinson’s Disease, PLOS ONE, and The Journal of the Neurological Sciences.
