- Dr. Richard Shewbridge was appointed a Cleveland Clinic staff endocrinologist in October 2010. He started endocrinology practice in Medina, Ohio in 1996. Dr. Shewbridge received his medical degree in 1988 from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He completed internship and residency in internal medicine, as well as endocrinology fellowship training, in the United States Air Force. Dr. Shewbridge is American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism. Dr. Shewbridge is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) in Rootstown, Ohio.
He served Cleveland Clinic as Medina Hospital President from July 2017, and was appointed Chief Medical Officer and Cleveland Clinic South Submarket Vice President in 2023. He had served as Vice President of Medical Operations for 6 years prior to his appointment as president. He has chaired the Pharmacy and Therapeutics as well as Medical Staff Quality committees. In 2016, Dr. Shewbridge served as an Associate Chief Quality Officer, Regional Hospitals, at Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Shewbridge also served on the steering committee of the National Diabetes and Obesity Research Institute (NDORI) located in Tradition, MS. This affiliation with the Cleveland Clinic Endocrinology and Metabolism Institute began in 2016, and aims to develop strategies for reducing the burden of diabetes and obesity in Mississippi.
