Summary
- I am a physician-scientist, AI researcher, Professor, and Vice Chair of Research and Innovation in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Virginia. My research group is committed to advancing the field of AI in medicine through a cross-disciplinary approach that thoughtfully integrates artificial intelligence with real-world healthcare delivery. We bring together a diverse team of experts in design, cognitive science, behavioral economics, machine learning, implementation science, ethics, philosophy, and decision theory. Our mission is to develop AI solutions that are not only technically sound but also ethically grounded, user-centered, and ready for clinical implementation. By bridging disciplinary boundaries, we aim to create AI technologies that are attuned to the complexity of healthcare systems and focused on improving patient outcomes.
