Summary
- Dr. Robert Mentz is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Heart Failure Section at Duke University. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cardiac Failure – the official journal of the HFSA. He completed Internal Medicine training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Cardiology Fellowship at Duke University Hospital and the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI). Robert spends his clinical time at Duke University Hospital assisting with the care of patients with heart failure, cardiac transplants and ventricular assist devices. He is an NIH and industry funded clinical trialist involved in ongoing trials designed to inform the care of cardiac patients. He has more than 350 peer-reviewed publications. He is an established mentor for medical students, residents and cardiology fellows and was the recipient of the 2021 Clinical Research Mentoring Award from the Duke School of Medicine and the 2017 W. Proctor Harvey Award from the ACC.
