She completed her medical degree at Northwestern University and pursued residencies in both pediatrics and ophthalmology at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and UCLA. She also completed a fellowship at UCLA in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. Since 2000, she has been the Chief of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery at California Pacific Medical Center. Dr. Silkiss has expertise in procedures such as blepharoplasty and facial cosmetic surgery. She has a strong research interest in the use of biologics for thyroid eye disease. Her recent publications include studies on thyroid eye disease (TED), IGF1-R inhibition in TED, benign essential blepharospasm (BEB), idiopathic intracranial hypertension and COVID-19-related complications in ophthalmology. She led a clinical trial on Rituximab for Graves' dysthyroid ophthalmopathy as well as the use of Epidiolex to treat BEB. Her honors include long-term recognition as one of the Best Doctors, and fellowships from prestigious societies including the American Ophthalmological Society, the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons.
