He is founder and director of the Center for School Health at Mount Sinai South Nassau and a Clinical Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai He completed his medical education at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1978 and underwent pediatric residency training at Nationwide Children's Hospital and the University of Maryland. Marino has served as a Program Director at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center from 1981-2020 and was an Attending Physician and associate chairman at NYU Winthrop Hospital from 1987-2020 which merged with NYU Langone Hospitals in 2018. He also held positions as professor at Stony Brook School of Medicine, NY Institute of Technology, and NYU School of Medicine. His research has been published in several journals, including Pediatrics, Clinical Pediatrics and The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association, among others. He has authored several book chapters. He has served national roles with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Board of Osteopathic Pediatrics. He has been recognized with several awards and listed as a top doctor in NY.
