Summary

  • Determined, detail-oriented, dependable and decisive. When I see a need, I address it, driving the process through to resolution. I am dedicated to pediatric patient care and advancing the field of pediatric critical care medicine.

As a clinician and researcher, I develop protocols that are scalable and adaptable. I led several efforts to improve the culture of safety, ranging from educating over 250 community hospital medical professionals in best practices of stabilizing critically ill pediatric patients prior to transport to designing a patented chest tube securing device.

Also, I lead hospital-wide efforts to decrease unplanned extubation (UE). In addition to tracking and reducing the incidence of UE, I gather, analyze and disseminate information. My UE committee members take the data back to their divisions, sharing recommendations with their groups. This effort educates the staff, improves the process and reduces the incidence of UE all in service to patient safety.

Maintenance of Certification (MOC) is another effort I help lead at my institution. I am instrumental in turning ideas into certified MOC projects. I help faculty members define and develop projects, present to the institutional review committee and obtain approval. In the end, this service supports every faculty member at my institution maintain their certification.

At the heart of every pediatrician is the deep-seated need to help children. I am a proud member of the Riley International Heart Missions. I travel to the Middle East to care for patients and families who could only dream of the type of care our physicians provide. I derive tremendous personal satisfaction in working with the most critically ill children. My life’s work is truly in this field of medicine.
