  • Dr. Sean Casey is a retired radiologist in Jupiter, FL who has more than 20 publications and over 500 citings. He received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx NY. He specializes in neuroradiology with expertise in 3D Post Processing and Medical Informatics. In 1995, he invented the imaging technique of 3D Cerebral CT Venography. In 1997, he joined the University of Minnesota where he rose to the rank of Associate Professor of Radiology. In 2000, he was the first to describe the imaging appearance of a neurologic syndrome (on the new MRI FLAIR sequence) which he named PRES (Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome). From 1998-2008, he served on the Medical Advisory Board of Vital Images Inc and served as an Editor for the American Journal Of Neuroradiology (AJNR). In 2001, He founded the world's largest teleradiology practice, Virtual Radiologic (VRC), now known as VRAD. He eventually was licensed to practice medicine in all 50 states as well as DC and Puerto Rico. As CEO and Chairman, he took Virtual Radiologic public on the NASDAQ in 2007. In 2010, he founded Omphalos Venture Partners, a small venture capital / angel investing firm focused primarily on investing in early stage healthcare software and medical device companies in the Upper Midwest / Twin Cities region.
