Dr. Block's work in pediatrics has been recognized through multiple national awards, such as the Kentucky pediatrician of the year in 2025, University of Kentucky Distinguished Medical Alumni in 2004, American Academy of Pediatrics Researcher of the Year in 1998, and the Burtis Burr Breese Award in 2002 and 2003. Additionally, he has been involved in numerous clinical trials (over 500), many focusing on antimicrobial treatment and influenza. In 2025, he published his life's memoir and research accomplishments--Pediatrics around the Block , (Amazon #1bestseller), a 470 page depiction of his journey from a country doc to becoming the most published, renowned opinion leader in general pediatrics in the USA. The book provides a historical background to many of his enigmatic cases , avant-garde patient care advice, watershed publications, and cutting edge research involvement.
