Summary

  • Dr. Ambrusko is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist at the Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders Program of Western New York, covering pediatric care at Oishei Children's Hospital and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is the Director of the Sickle Cell & Hemoglobinopathy Center of Western New York, caring for children and adolescents with sickle cell disease, thalassemias, porphyrias, and other hemoglobin disorders. In this role, his focus is on improving patient outcomes, decreasing sickle cell disease related complications, and program development, including community outreach. He is also available on an outpatient consultative basis for adults with sickle cell disease/hemoglobinopathies in the community.
    In addition, he also sees patients with a variety of other non-malignant blood disorders, such as disorders of red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells, blood clotting conditions, bleeding disorders, and bone marrow failure syndromes. He also provides care for pediatric patients at the Hemophilia Center of Western New York. Dr. Ambrusko also participates in the comprehensive multidisciplinary Vascular Anomalies Center at Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo, providing hematologic expertise for patients with vascular tumors and malformations.
