He completed his medical school training at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, his pediatric residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, and an academic general pediatric fellowship at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. He has been PI on research grants from AHRQ and HRSA and as a site PI or lead pediatrician on awards from AHRQ, the CDC, SC Medicaid, SC Dept of Health and Environmental Control, and Purdue Pharma. His AHRQ-supported research focused on pediatric ambulatory prescribing errors.
In January, 2022, he was appointed Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education.
