- Dr Artin Mahdanian is a Persian-Canadian Psychiatrist and Existentialist trained at McGill and Johns Hopkins Universities and certified by the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC), and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
After completing his Doctor of Medicine (MD), Dr Artin pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Mental Health Research and Psychiatry Residency at McGill University in Canada. As a visiting scholar, he has done Global Mental Health work at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) in the UK. He completed his academic training with a clinical postdoctoral fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University in the US.
In addition to his expertise in psychopharmacological treatments of psychiatric conditions, he has had training in various psychotherapy modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Existential Therapy, and Jungian Analysis. In his practice, he employs an eclectic existential approach, incorporating the most beneficial aspects of each method during therapy sessions (Dynamic Eclectic Existential Psychotherapy).
His clinical and research interests include Mood/Anxiety/Trauma conditions, Existentialism, Student Mental Health, and Global Mental Health focusing on Human Rights, Abuse of Psychiatry, and Recovery.
