Summary

  • I am Director of Rehabilitation at Children's Mercy Hospital. Our mission is to provide specialty care for children with special needs whether congenital or acquired. We engage in a Patient Centered manner from diagnosis through transition to adult care. We deliver care with specialty clinics designed to have the necessary resources available to meet a child's needs. Our vision is to inspire children with disabilities to live extraordinary lives.

My special interest areas include transitions of adolescents with special needs into appropriate adult care systems, amputation and prosthetics, muscle disorders, and innovative wheelchair design.

From a leadership perspective, I enjoy training and mentoring young faculty, fellows, residents and students. I thrive on process development and innovation, and continue to strive for improvement, even in our best programs. I also make sure our trainees understand the business of medicine, including the need to make our interventions with patients and families meaningful, respectful, and efficient.
