- Babak Azizzadeh, MD, FACS, is President-Elect of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) and Clinical Chief of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery at Cedars-Sinai. He is double board-certified in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery, with a clinical practice focused on both advanced facial rejuvenation and complex facial nerve reconstruction.
He specializes in deep plane facelift surgery, revision facial rejuvenation, and structural neck contouring, and is also recognized for expertise in facial reanimation, facial nerve reconstruction, and synkinesis management. He pioneered selective neurolysis for facial synkinesis and contributes to contemporary techniques for challenging revision and nerve-related facial procedures.
Dr. Azizzadeh is core faculty in the Otolaryngology residency program at Cedars-Sinai, where he teaches facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and mentors trainees across operative, clinical, and academic settings. As an AAFPRS-accredited fellowship director, he has trained more than twenty facial plastic surgery fellows, many of whom now lead academic programs, direct facial nerve centers, or advance research in facial paralysis and facial plastic surgery.
A Harvard-trained surgeon, he has authored or edited more than ten surgical textbooks, including Master Techniques in Facial Rejuvenation and Master Techniques in Blepharoplasty and Periorbital Rejuvenation, and has published extensively on facial paralysis, synkinesis, facial nerve reconstruction, and aesthetic facial surgery. He also serves as President of the Sir Charles Bell Society, supporting global collaboration in facial paralysis, Bell’s palsy, Moebius syndrome, and related disorders. His academic work reflects a commitment to advancing surgical education, multidisciplinary care, and evidence-based innovation in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
