Summary
- I am currently a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, Director of Quality & Patient Safety for the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA), and an attending physician within the Leukemia and Lymphoma and Survivorship and Supportive Care Programs.
I am a NIH-funded clinician-scientist with research focused on new agents and novel strategies to reduce toxicity, improve survival, and better the quality of life during and after therapy. My current research emphasis are to prevent chemotherapy-induced permanent hearing loss and to target obesity in pediatric ALL to reduce chemotherapy resistance. My clinical specialty is in childhood leukemia with a focus on a particularly rare type of leukemia named Acute Leukemia of Ambiguous Lineage (ALAL), a historically difficult to treat cancer.
