Overview of Dr. Shah
I am an electrophysiologist (MD, FACC, FHRS) at Corewell Health specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal heart rhythms. The most rewarding part of my work is seeing the difference it makes in patients’ lives—whether it’s helping someone with atrial fibrillation regain energy and function, preventing a future cardiac arrest, or restoring a patient’s ability to enjoy everyday activities again.
Originally from India, I come from a family of businessmen and was the first to pursue medicine. I earned my medical degree from the Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences in Karad, completed my internal medicine residency at Charleston Area Medical Center in West Virginia, followed by a cardiology fellowship at West Virginia University and an electrophysiology fellowship at Beaumont Hospital in Michigan.
I was drawn to electrophysiology because it feels like solving a puzzle. Understanding the exact mechanism of an arrhythmia and then being able to eliminate it in the lab is both intellectually stimulating and incredibly rewarding.
My clinical interests include atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, and heart failure. I perform a wide range of procedures including SVT ablations, atrial fibrillation ablations, pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy, leadless pacemakers, and left atrial appendage closure devices (WATCHMAN).
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and playing complex, strategy-based board games.
