Dr. Michael B. Sisti is a neurosurgeon practicing at New York Presbyterian Hospital Columbia University Medical Center in New York, NY, with subspecialties in complex brain and cerebrovascular neurosurgery, skull base tumors with microsurgery and radiosurgery. Over his continuous career at one of the largest and most highly regarded hospitals and medical schools in the country Dr. Sisti has treated over 9,000 patients with the most complex brain tumors particularly of the skull base.
He completed his medical education and residency training at Columbia University, New York Presbyterian Hospital, Neurological Institute of NY.
He is currently the James G. McMurtry III Professor of Neurosurgery at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and the founder and co director of the Center for Radiosurgery since 1998.
Dr. Sisti's areas of neurosurgical expertise include neuro-oncologic microsurgery and radiosurgery for conditions such as vestibular schwannoma, glioblastoma, metastatic tumors, meningiomas and intraventicular brain tumors.
His research has contributed to numerous publications in leading peer reviewed journals highlighting his surgical sub specialty expertise documenting his personal long term results in the management of acoustic neuromas and other tumors of the cerebellar pontine angle in over 1, 500 patients particularly with regards to facial nerve function.
His accolades include being recognized by Castle Connolly as one of America's Top Doctors and by New York Magazine as a top doctor for many years.
Dr Sisti has two sons who are physicians, Alexander C. Sisti MD PhD, a cardiology fellow at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University and Jonathan A. Sisti MD a dual fellowship trained neurosurgeon at Mount Sinai Hospital and medical school in NY in skull base and endovascular neurosurgery. Dr. Sisti's daughter Ariana is a health care executive with a masters degree in health care administration from Columbia University.
