Summary
- Theresa Roelke is a Nurse Practitioner based in Scarborough, ME, who earned her master's degree from the University of Southern Maine in 2016. She is the founder of Teach Me Rx, established in 2017, and has expertise in clinical research, patient care, clinical innovation, thoracic oncology, lung cancer screening, pulmonary nodules and sleep medicine. Theresa serves on the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer Early Detection and Screening Committee as well as the American Cancer Society National Lung Cancer Roundtable for Early Detection and Screening task group. Her work has been published in textbooks and respected journals, including Cancer and IASLC publications.
In 2019 she received a grant from Maine Health Innovation to create a patient education tool she named, Pocket Nodules given it's small enough to fit inside a lab coat pocket for important conversations with patients on findings. Pocket Nodules Lung received a second innovation award in 2020, The ACCC Innovation Award - but didn’t stop there.
She went on to receive a second grant from Maine Technology Institute to create a second tool for screening and early detection - Pocket Nodules - Breast. She hopes both tools will work synergistically to encourage eligible women to consider same day, dual screening for both lung and breast screening. Here’s a link to a March 27, 2026 news story about her innovation, Pocket Nodules:
