Overview of Dr. Moran
Dr. Thomas Moran is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and minimally invasive procedures to restore joint function. He has extensive experience treating athletes and active individuals with knee, shoulder, hip, and elbow injuries, including ACL tears and ligamentous knee injuries, meniscus tears, cartilage damage, shoulder instability, rotator cuff injuries, and shoulder arthritis. Dr. Moran is originally from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, where he grew up on a family farm. He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where he also completed his orthopaedic surgery residency. During residency, he assisted in taking care of the University of Virginia men's and women's athletes. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in Chicago, IL, where he served as an assistant team physician for the Chicago White Sox (MLB) and Chicago Bulls (NBA). In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Moran is dedicated to research and education, with an extensive number of publications on knee ligament reconstruction, shoulder injuries, and joint preservation techniques. He has served as a team physician for high school, collegiate, and professional sports teams, ensuring athletes receive top-tier care from injury through recovery. Dr. Moran believes in a personalized approach to patient care, helping individuals regain mobility and return to the activities they love.
